UConn IEEE Club

UConn IEEE Undergraduate Chapter

The UConn IEEE Undergraduate Chapter supports academic, professional, and social growth for students in Electrical and Computer Engineering, Computer Science, and related fields. Members participate in hands-on workshops, technical projects, and collaborative builds ranging from PCB design to embedded systems. Recent activities include designing RC boats, LED cubes, and large-scale lighting displays. Meetings are held weekly and are open to students at all experience levels.

FROST Robotics

FROST Robotics is UConn’s premier combat robotics team, offering students the opportunity to design and build competitive robots from the ground up. Members gain hands-on experience in CAD, electronics, machining, and software while working on both team-led and individual projects. The club regularly competes in national events like NHRL and supports a wide range of robot designs, from robotic arms to advanced combat platforms. All students, technical or not, are welcome to learn and contribute.

HKN – Eta Kappa Nu Honors Society

Eta Kappa Nu is the international honor society for Electrical and Computer Engineering, recognizing students who demonstrate outstanding academic achievement and character. The UConn chapter is award-winning and actively promotes professional development, scholarship, and service within the engineering community. Members support instructional excellence and participate in activities that strengthen both the department and the broader profession. HKN provides lifelong connection to a global network of engineering leaders.

Underwater Robotics Club

UWRC – Underwater Robotics Club

Underwater Robotics at UConn focuses on the design and construction of competition-grade underwater ROVs and floating systems. Members learn core engineering skills through hands-on design, fabrication, and testing of complex robotic platforms. The club has built multiple successful robots and gained statewide recognition for its work. UWRC welcomes students interested in mechanical, electrical, and systems engineering challenges.

BMES – Biomedical Engineering Society

The Biomedical Engineering Society at UConn supports students interested in applying engineering to medicine and human health. The chapter hosts seminars, open houses, and career-focused events that connect students with research, industry, and clinical applications. With a large undergraduate and graduate membership, BMES fosters collaboration and professional growth across the biomedical community. The organization also incorporates honor societies and service-focused engineering groups.

The UConn SPIE Society connects students to the global field of optics and photonics through education, research, and professional development. Members engage with topics spanning imaging, communications, sensors, biomedicine, and energy systems. As part of the international SPIE organization, the chapter provides access to technical resources, conferences, and scholarships. The club supports interdisciplinary learning and career growth in emerging light-based technologies.

UREC – UConn Radio Electronics Club

The UConn Radio Electronics Club introduces students to the theory and practice of radio and wireless systems. Members explore topics such as satellite communications, antenna design, software-defined radio, and PCB development. Hands-on projects include receiving images from space, building antennas, and preparing for amateur radio licensing. The club encourages experimentation and welcomes anyone curious about radio technology.
