Electronics & Systems

This minor provides students with a foundation in electrical circuits, signals, and system-level thinking, emphasizing how electronic components work together in practical applications. It is well-suited for students seeking a deeper technical understanding of modern electronic systems.

Nanotechnology

The nanotechnology minor introduces students to the principles of nanoscale materials, devices, and fabrication techniques that underpin advanced technologies. Coursework focuses on the electrical, optical, and physical behavior of structures at the nanometer scale.

Information Assurance

This minor focuses on the fundamentals of computer security and information assurance, preparing students to understand and address risks related to data protection and secure systems. It is designed to support the growing demand for professionals in cybersecurity and IT–related fields.

Minor Requirements:

Students in any major may earn this minor.  However, students who are not majors in the School of Business may only earn one minor offered by the School of Business. Students who are not majors in the School of Business are restricted to no more than 24 credits of coursework offered by the School of Business. At the most, two OPIM courses taken toward the Information Assurance minor can be counted toward the Business major. OPIM 4895 and OPIM 4899 must be taken for 3 or more credits each if any of those courses are used toward the Information Assurance minor.

University Requirements for all Minors

The student must be seeking a baccalaureate degree from the University of Connecticut.

The student must earn a C (2.0) or better in each course in the minor.

The total number of credits in the approved courses must be at least 15.

Applying for a minor

Declare your minor at ppc.uconn.edu

Submit final plan of study during final semester.    In StudentAdmin, navigate to the following path: SA Self Service > Student Center > Academic Requirements (under the drop down menu at the left) > “Submit Final Plan of Study” button 

Electronics and Systems Minor Requirements

Not open to students pursuing majors in electrical engineering, computer engineering, or engineering physics
